What do I get as a member of PrtnerUp?

Access to a community of business owners, subject matter experts and investors all searching for the perfect long-term fit for their needs. Basic members can search for other users by industry, location, business, skill or keyword of choice. To see full details and message other users you’ll need to upgrade your membership. Full membership is simple: there’s just one low fee. After that, you can see all the details, connect with as many people as you want and send all the messages you need. You won’t have to pay any more. We’re here to help you, not vice-versa.

How is PrtnerUp different to LinkedIn?

PrtnerUp is dedicated to building a community where business owners, subject matter experts and investors are focused on one thing only – direct connections with each other in pursuit of their long-term goals. We’re not trying to be Facebook for Business (“So proud to announce…”) and we’re not interested in becoming a CV submission hamster wheel. Our focus is squarely on helping business owners to find the subject matter experts or investors they need to grow and succeed, helping subject matter experts find businesses who need their skills, and helping investors find opportunities to drive a business to the next level of success.

How is PrtnerUp different to sites like UpWork or Freelancer?

PrtnerUp helps business owners, subject matter experts and investors connect and build long-term relationships. Some businesses will just want short-term help with a short-term project; some experts love the variety of working in temporary gigs. These other sites are for them. We’re about helping our members to be more successful and achieve their goals, long-term.

How much does membership cost?

Basic membership is completely free. Full membership is $3 per month (billed annually) or $4 per month (billed quarterly). You effectively get three months for free with the annual plan, but either way it's less than a couple of coffees per month.

How long is my membership?

Basic membership lasts until you cancel. For full membership there are two options, quarterly and annual. Quarterly gives you more flexibility but costs a little more per month. On the other hand, annual membership gives you more time to find your perfect business match and comes with three months free compared to the quarterly plan. Pick whichever option works best for you.

Will my membership automatically renew?

Not without notifying you first. Full members will receive an email one week before renewal so you can change your payment details, elect not to renew, or do nothing and continue to enjoy the benefit of access to a community of business owners, subject matter experts and investors all searching for the perfect long-term fit. It’s entirely up to you.

How do I maximise my chances of finding a match?

Your profile is what other members see when you show up in their search results. To give yourself the best chance of getting their attention, take your time when filling out your profile rather than skipping through as quick as you can. Include all the details you think might be relevant and be as precise as possible.

Firstly, make sure you choose the right industry – it’s the first thing people look for.

Then describe your business or experience clearly. For example, don’t just say ‘restaurant’. Tell potential partners what kind of restaurant. How many years have you worked in it? What sets you apart? Elaborate on the expertise you need or offer in the appropriate section of your profile.

In short, give people enough detail up-front that they can tell if you are an interesting potential match for their own needs.

What if I don’t find a Prtner to match with?

Don’t panic. It may be that the business or person you’re looking for just hasn’t found us yet, so keep checking back. Or maybe they have found us, but they can’t find you. Try revising your profile to include more detailed information – maybe people are having trouble identifying you as a potential match.

Also, try broadening your own search parameters – maybe someone with the right skills would work out even if they don’t have experience in your particular industry, or aren’t in your desired locality. Heck, if remote work has taught us anything it’s that we really don’t need to work in the same place as the people we work with. Keep reaching out through other channels as well. You never know what will turn up.

What if I do find a matching business owner or subject matter expert?

Reach out through the in-app messaging. Say hello. Let them know you’re interested in talking. It’s a bit like a business date. You’ve found a potential match, now you need to get talking to see if it’s a good match. For more information, click the option below that’s right for you.
